Steve Falconer secures $20,000 pledge to Save the MetThanks to the diligent efforts of Steve Falconer, Chairman of Community for A Better Derry, a one time donation of $20,000 has been pledged to the Save the Met campaign. The donor wishes to remain anonymous. Steve's and Community for A Better Derry's commitment to the goal of saving The Met has focused on tireless efforts to find large sources of funding/grant monies from groups and/or individuals that support children's causes in the community. This pledge comes at a crucial time in the fundraising process for The Met. With only 2 weeks to go and only about halfway to our fundraising pledge goal, this pledge will go a long way towards helping put the Met "over the top". While this is great news for the Save the Met effort, it's future is still by no means certain. We still have not achieved our $50,000 pledge goal and have yet to reach the halfway point in The Met's corporate sponsorship goals of $25,000. We still need a lot of support from the community and community businesses if we are to achieve our goal by the August 31 deadline. Now is the time when we really need to put on that extra push to insure the survival of this great resource for our area children. We've still got 2 weeks to go and a lot of ground to cover, but this latest pledge helps put our goals within our grasp. If you haven't already, please be sure to visit www.savethemet.org to make your own personal pledge or find out what you can do to help. And for anyone out there that owns a business or knows someone who does, please encourage them to become a corporate sponsor. You can also encourage any local business that you patronize to become a corporate sponsor of the Met. We're too close to let up on our efforts now. Together our community can make a difference and together, we WILL save The Met! ![]() |
